My First Trunk Club Review

I told myself that after I get back to a post-baby body I'm more comfortable with, I'd treat myself to some new wardrobe. Up until this point, I've been wearing clothes just for mere comfort or convenience rather than to be stylish. I've been working my butt off the past few months trying to get back to a place where I'm no longer squeezing uncomfortably in my favorite jeans, or wearing those not-so-cute nursing tank tops all day every day. I can honestly say I'm pretty proud of how far I've come in just a few months of exercise and eating better, so I decided it's time for a treat!

As much as I love window shopping and trying on different outfits at the mall, having three kids to tote around makes that just a little more difficult. So, I decided to give Trunk Club a try (thanks to my best friend Angie for sending me your cute Trunk Club selfies!)

For those who aren’t familiar with what Trunk Club is, it’s basically like having a personal stylist mail you clothes that fit your preference for any occasion. When you sign up, you automatically get paired with a stylist who you are able to communicate with and send style requests to via message or even by sharing your Pinterest board. What I love about Trunk Club is that the stylist really listens to your needs and will then send you a preview of the clothes she's planning to send. This is a great feature because you have a chance to go through the items and nix the ones you don't want sent and ask for something else instead. You don't get a second preview but the first preview is enough for me and makes me even more anxious to try everything on!

For my first trunk, I asked my stylist, Bailey, for some assistance with beginning a capsule wardrobe. I told her I wanted the basics with colors leaning more towards black, white, nude and blush pink. She was more than happy to pull some pieces for me and for the most part, my preview was spot on! I only said no to a few of the items only because I already had similar ones at home. After I sent my feedback, it took about a week for my trunk to arrive. The trunk itself is just a cardboard box but it's the most beautiful and chic cardboard box I've ever seen! The pattern and handle alone made it feel like I was having my own personal at-home Nordstrom experience. Inside were 8 items along with a free shipping return label. You have the option to return the item by scheduling a pick-up with UPS, dropping it off at your local UPS, or returning it to an actual Nordstrom department store.

Because I asked for a capsule wardrobe, it was easy to pair everything together. Here's what I was able to try on:

After feeling torn with several of the items, I decided to only keep the Obey sweater and satchel. I realized that while I still want to have a capsule wardrobe, I also want my stylist to find me items that are more fun and I can find the basics on my own. For my next trunk I’m asking for some items that are for warmer weather and I could possibly bring for our upcoming family vacation to California! Can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with for me next!
